Finishing Self Portraits K-2

There's only a few students left who need to finish their portraits after this week's studio work. We had fun learning about how to use watercolor and oil pastel together, bringing more focus to our lines. The displays in the hallways and library are stunning...thanks to all of my passionate and talented students.

   

Self-Portraits in Progress

Here are some of the Ms. LaRose's Second Graders' Self Portrait works in progress. I have been greatly impressed with how deeply the students have been paying attention to detail and zeroing in on their unique features.

Welcome to the PPS Art Studio!

For our first class, we discussed expectations in the Art Studio and got to design our sketch folders. I also put in a lot of effort to learn everyone's name (I'm still working on it). 

In order to get to know my students better, and see how they present themselves to the world, our first project will be focused on the art of the self-portrait. We'll talk about the proportion of the face as well as the specific shapes that make up our eyes, nose, and mouth.
